Ada Amelia Fraker Chaffin age 99 passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Warwick Living Center, Alma, Michigan.

A Memorial Service celebrating Ada's life will be held at Smith Family Funeral Home, 1333 East Center St. Ithaca, MI on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 12:00 P.M. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Interment will be in the Resurrection Garden at the First Presbyterian Church in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Ada was born October 13, 1915 in Alma, MI the daughter of NB and Flossie Beattie Fraker. She grew up in Pompeii Michigan where she attended Pompeii School through 10th grade. She graduated from Ithaca High School in 1934 and attended Hildreth Business College in St. Louis Michigan.

Ada married Justin Chaffin on November 8, 1935 in the Ithaca Presbyterian Church. They lived 31 years on the family farm west of Pompeii. She retired from the Michigan Department of Social Services in 1976 after 30 years. After retirement Ada and Justin initially spent summers at a new home in Ithaca and winters in Naples Florida where they lived retirement to the fullest enjoying the beach, square dancing, bridge and family visits.

Justin passed away in 1998 and Ada returned to Ithaca full time to renew old friendships. The Ithaca Senior Activities Center was her second home. Ada loved the challenge of playing and winning at bridge and Euchre. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ithaca and led a Bible Study at age 96. Ada was also a 69 year member of the Michigan Rebekah Lodge 194 of Pompeii.

Wherever she went, Ada left a legacy of love. She will be especially missed by her son Arden (Marjorie) Chaffin of Alma, MI daughter Ardyce (Jim) Robotham of Nashville, MI, brother Charles (Dorothy) Fraker of Alma, MI and brothers-in-law; Lee Chaffin of Hurt, MI, Virginia and Robert (Susan) Chaffin of Ithaca. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who knew her as Grandma Great! Ada also leaves many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
