Agnes Cecile (Smith) Schomisch, of Fowler, MI, went to be with the Lord on May 22, 2024, at the age of 99. She passed peacefully as her daughters were frantically trying to kill a spider on the back porch.
Agnes was born in Westphalia, Michigan, on January 11, 1925, to John and Ida Smith. Agnes raised her family until she went to work for Fowler Public Schools Food Service Department as the head baker. She retired after 10 years of service. Agnes loved to bake and cook and was famous for her homemade bread, Mamma's seasoned salt, and Sunday afternoon dinners with her family. Mom LOVED music and when her favorite songs would play, she turned it up LOUD. Mom loved playing cards with her many card gangs.
She is survived by her daughters: Chris Witt, Karen Schomisch, Kathy Schomisch and son-in-law Steve Jones. She has 6 grandchildren: Dana (Britteny), Derek, Karah (Mark), Anne (Steve), Sheena (Luke), and Doug (Heather). She has 10 great grandchildren and another soon on the way. She is also survived by the family dog, Eddi Cecil, which she always reminded us that "she's only a dog!" She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin of 70 years, her children: Ellie, Annie, and Gary, and her son-in-law Doug Witt. Mom was the second youngest of 12 children, and is survived by her loving sister Adeline Feldpausch, and her special girlfriends: Bernie Fox and Doris Klein.
We would like to extend a special thank you and much love to mom's wonderful hospice nurses, Vanessa and Megan. We would also like to thank all of mom's beautiful neighbors, friends and relatives who came by to visit and shower her with gifts.
