Alan Burton Carmany

      Alan Burton Carmany, age 74, of Ashley, MI, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024, at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Lansing, MI.
     Per Alan's request, cremation will take place and there will be no services.
     Alan was born in Lansing, Michigan on August 25, 1949, the son of Maurice G. and Freida (Lujiens) Carmany. He graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1967. Alan went on to graduate from Central Michigan University with his bachelors in Education. Alan married Mary Ellen (Liska) Carmany on March 23, 1974, in Ithaca, MI. Alan and Mary resided in Port Huron and Jeddo for 32 years until moving back to Ashley in 2005.
     Alan was musically talented playing several instruments including the trombone, accordion, organ, guitar and piano. He loved listening to rock & oldies, and had an extensive music collection. Alan had a love for animals. They had horses, dogs, birds, cats, a possum named Pete, who lived in their garage and they took in many strays throughout the years.
     He is survived by wife Mary Carmany of Ashley, MI; sisters-in-law: Elaine Liska of Troy, MI; Kathy Sugden of Haslett, MI; Aneka Liska of Royal Oak, MI; Theresa and Kenneth Gregg of Tucson, AZ. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Maurice Lydon Carmany, Ronald Carmany, and his sister Freida Jean (Dale) Box.
