Albert Pontack

Albert Joseph Pontack, age 89, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Pathway Home of Elsie, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI, on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 1:00 P.M., with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams officiating.  Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service.

Albert was born in Bannister, MI on March 27, 1931, the son of Joseph Albert and Anna (Nemcik) Pontack. Albert married Daleta Dawn George on August 1, 1953 in Bannister, MI. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage before Daleta's passing on May 10, 2017.

Albert retired from General Motors as a supervisor after 36 years of service. After retirement Albert and Daleta spent winters in Fort Pierce, Florida. Albert was a member of the Elsie American Legion, Elsie Lions Club, the Shriners and also the Owosso Knights of Columbus. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his son James and Julie Pontack of St. Johns, grandchildren: Carrie and Jeremi Sutliff of Ovid, MI, Chad and Trina Pontack of Elsie, MI, Colleen and Matt Nethaway of Laingsburg, MI, Joseph and Courtney Pontack of DeWitt, MI, and Jamie and Tate Coleman of St. Johns, MI. He is also survived by great-grandchildren: Keaghan (Lacey), Karscen, KayLee Sutliff, Carley, Hayden, Landon, and Elijah Pontack, Mattison, Mya, and Cole Nethaway, Isabelle, Caiden, and Logan Pontack, and Mila Coleman.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Daleta, son Mark "Gator" Pontack, brother Robert "Bugs" & Louise Pontack, and brother and sister-in-law Eldon & Jean Baese.
