Alice Carolyn (Weburg) McCrory

     Alice Carolyn McCrory, age 91, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023, at McKellar's Adult Foster Care.

     Funeral Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wheeler, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, with Pastor Michael Podeszwa officiating.  Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 2-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI.

     Alice was born in Paxton, IL on June 10, 1932, the daughter of George Andrew and Elsie (Saldeen) Weburg.  She graduated from St. Louis High School.  Alice married Hobart "Fuzz" McCrory on March 9, 1952, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wheeler, MI. They were married forty years prior to his passing on September 9, 1992.

     Alice worked for over thirty years at North Elementary School in Ithaca as a Librarian.  She also supervised the playground, made up the bus routes and was known as the "tooth fairy."

     Alice loved reading and her ability to bring a book to life with her expressional voice always brought joy to her grandchildren and many students at North. Alice's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She enjoyed tending her flower gardens and watching her birds through the window. Alice and Fuzz enjoyed country life on their farm with family.  Alice was proud of her Swedish heritage. She had the privilege to make two trips to her family's homeland of Sweden; one of which was with her siblings.

     She was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wheeler where she also was a member of the choir, Ladies Society, and a Sunday school teacher for many years.

     She is survived by children: Scott (Tamera) McCrory of St. Louis, MI; Robin McCrory of Alma, MI; Janelle (Roger) Olson of Ithaca, MI; seven grandchildren: Jared (Lindsay) McCrory, Brooke (Mike) Chase, Tayler (Dan) Horrigan, Melissa (Dave) Bussear, Kristin Shepler, Nicole Whitmore, and Courtney Olson; twelve great-grandchildren: Dylan, Koen, Hudson, Asher, Knox, Ella, Henry, Keelyn, McKenzie, Connor, Hayden, and Jaxson.  She is also survived by her siblings: Ellen Arney, Joan (Larry) Coon, George (Linda) Weburg, and Dale (Camille) Weburg.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband "Fuzz", her daughter Julie Sova and her granddaughter Kara Lynn Sova.

     The family would like to thank Gratiot Hospice Homecare and McKellar's and staff for the wonderful care given to Alice. The family is also thankful for her best feisty friend Rosie.
