Alice Schuiling

Alice Catherine Schuiling age 91, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI.

A private family memorial service will be held with Pastor Mona Kindel officiating at Smith Family Funeral Homes-Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI.

Alice was born in Grand Rapids, MI on July 13, 1927, the daughter of Edward Mills and Winifred Agnes (MacDonald) Rockwell.  On June 5 1948 she married Melvin James Schuiling in Grand Rapids; he died June 3, 2002. Alice retired from Old Kent Bank in Greenville, MI in 1992. After her retirement Alice and Melvin moved to Hulbert, MI, after Melvin's death she moved to St. Johns in 2003.

Alice had a strong faith in the Lord and became an ordained Episcopal Deacon at All Saints Episcopal Church in Newberry, MI.  She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church St. Johns, MI.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Dianne and Michael Berry of St. Johns, MI; Carol Schuiling of Williamsburg, NM; 1 son Steven and Melissa Schuiling of Lake Odessa, MI; 6 grandchildren: Scott and (Mindy) Berry, Heather ( Patrick) Dick, John Cohill Jr. & (Jamie), Spencer Schuiling, Alex Schuiling, Nicholas Schuiling; and 6 great grandchildren: Nina, Seth, Taylor, Travis, Jack and Austin.  She was predeceased by her parents, husband, 1 sister and brother in law Mary Lou and Gerald Sterken, and 2 brothers and sisters in law: Clark and Shirley Rockwell, and Edward and Doralee Rockwell.
