Alice Mae Buskirk Stowe, age 97, of Ithaca, Michigan died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Arbor Grove Assisted Living, Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor John Hagerman officiating. Burial will take place at Ferris Center Cemetery, Vestaburg, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Alice was born in Stanton, Michigan on April 9, 1917, the daughter of Charles and Mae (Bailey) Baker. She graduated from Crystal High School with the class 1934; she then attended County Normal and graduated from Central Michigan University with a teaching degree. On June 26, 1939 Alice married Luther Buskirk in Kentucky; Luther died in August of 1984. On September 26, 1998 she married Edwin Stowe in Ithaca, Michigan; Edwin died September 10, 2014. She was a public school teacher for more than 40 years retiring from the Carson City Crystal Public Schools in 1980. Alice enjoyed traveling and had traveled to many countries. She was an avid reader and enjoyed square dancing. She resided most of her life in Crystal, Michigan moving to Ithaca in the 1980s. Alice attended New Haven Church of God, Sumner, Michigan.
She is survived by her daughter Phyllis and Larry Stoner of Ithaca, MI, son, Michael and Karen Buskirk of Stanton, MI, 3 step sons; Curtis and Julie Stowe of Walled Lake, MI, Timothy and Lori Stowe of Novi, MI, Andy and Barb Stowe of St. Johns, MI, 4 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, 2 husbands, and 5 sisters.
