Alma Jewel Walker age 94 of Ithaca, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 25, 2012.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, MI on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 11:00 A.M., with Minister Gary Miller, nephew, of Homeworth, Ohio, officiating. Burial will take place at Hayes Road Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, MI.
Alma was born on November 26, 1917 in Newark Township, lthaca, to Edward and Julia (Johnson) Litwiller. Alma was married to Russell M. Walker on August 31, 1941 in Gratiot County. He preceded her in death on October 17, 1975. To that marriage five children were born Russell, Billie, Richard, Linda and Patty.
Alma retired from Wolverine World Wide, where she worked for many years. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling on a league. She loved gardening and playing in the flowers. Neighbors would stop by and tell her how much they enjoyed them. Alma was also an avid quilter; she made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren, which they will now cherish. Alma enjoyed spending her winters in Oklahoma with her daughter Patty. Alma was also a wonderful baker. Her grandchildren enjoyed the sugar cookies she made. Alma also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.
Alma is survived by her children; Russell D (Carol) Walker of Mt Pleasant, Billie L (Shirley) Walker of Midland, Linda S (Dan) Foster of lthaca, and Patricia J Walker of Chickasha, OK. Her grandchildren; Michael D (Dawn) Walker of Minnesota, Patrick T Walker of lthaca, Christopher S (Natalie) Walker of Arizona, Jeffery (Jenifer) Taylor of Arizona, Kirk W (Amy) Walker of lthaca, Kimberly A (Pat) Janicek of Corunna, Christina Reeves of lthaca, and Zachary R (Dori) Foster of Mt Pleasant. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren; Cy & lsabella Walker, Brandon Walker, Corbin & Trinity Walker, Courtney & Brooke Taylor, Holly & Breven Walker, Grant Janicek, Jessica & Rylee Reeves, and Cambre Foster. Alma is also survived by one brother Neil (Marie) Litwiller of Riverdale and sisters; Wanita Bender of Kentucky and Evelyn (Wayne) Miller of Texas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Alma was preceded in death by her husband Russell, her son Richard, brothers; Evan, Victor and Willard Litwiller and sister Lois Hiebert.
