Almeda Jane Clark, age 93, of Bath, MI died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Sparrow Clinton Hospital, St. Johns, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, MI on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Mark Walker and Pastor Mark Adams officiating. Burial will take place at Rose Cemetery in Bath Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Almeda was born in Eagle, Michigan on October 3, 1918, the daughter of Roland James and Jenny Pearl (Hart) McConnell. Almeda married Walter J. Clark on November 13, 1934 and he preceded her in death on January 5, 1970 after 35 years of marriage. They were foster parents for over 25 years to nearly 200 children. Almeda retired from Bath Public Schools in 1987, having worked as a custodian, in the cafeteria and also as a bus driver. She was a member of Woodview Nazarene Church.
Almeda is survived by son Dorwin and Marilyn Clark of Marion, MI, daughter Jackie and Roger Barger of Bath, MI, daughter Phyllis Ray of St. Johns, MI, son Dan and Andrea Clark of St. Johns, MI, son Rick Harrington of Texas, 11 grandchildren; Matt and Audrey Clark of Laingsburg, MI, Mike Clark of Holt, MI, Dawn and Rod Morrison of Marion, MI, Mark and Ann Adams of Lakeview, MI, Scott and Cheryl Goodman of Bath, MI, Ann Marie and Kurt Morris of Bath, MI, Brent Ray of St. Johns, MI, Amy Chapman and Justin of Grand Ledge, MI, Bridgette Skiffington and Chad of Charlotte, MI, Sarah Shetter of Lansing, MI, and Andrew Clark of St. Johns, MI, 14 great grandchildren; Matt, Alesha, Nicole, Amanda, Ashley, Meegan, Logan, Tarran, Wyatt, Blaine, Alexandra, Arianna, Antonia and Kail, 1 great great grandson Jayden and 2 sisters; Becky Warner and Viola Nielson. Almeda was predeceased by her parents, husband, 2 brothers; Robert and Elmer "Bud" McConnell and son-in-law Tony Ray.
