Almeta Rita Cole, age 89, of Alma, MI died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Warwick Living Center in Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Emerson Presbyterian Church in Breckenridge, MI on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., Rev. Jesse Perry and Almeta's grandson Pastor John Cole will officiate. Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Breckenridge, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.

Almeta was born in Reed City, Michigan on February 1, 1920, the daughter of Arthur and Hattie (Austin) Tennant. She attended Reed City & Alma Public Schools. Almeta married William Henry Cole on March 20, 1938 in Wheeler, MI. He passed away on January 30, 1998. Almeta was a homemaker who loved to sew and cook. She enjoyed attending family birthdays, and preparing Sunday chicken dinners and banana bread. She also loved gardening and their farm up north. She was a member of Emerson Presbyterian Church in Breckenridge, MI.

She is survived by her 4 children; Joyce Foster of Pennsylvania, MI, David J. and Susan M. Cole of Breckenridge, MI, Stephen J. and Karen Cole of Breckenridge, MI, Lorraine and Richard Clements of Alma, MI; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Richard Cole, great grandson Matthew Epling, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers.
