Alta E. Mey age 96 of St. Johns, Michigan formerly of Lansing died Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI.

A Graveside Service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery St. Louis, MI on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Rev. Charles Krueger will officiate.

Alta was born in Isabella County, Michigan on September 2, 1911 the daughter of Charles and Ina ( Kiter ) Ries. She attended St. Louis schools. Alta married Cecil Mey on September 1, 1941 in Lansing, Michigan. He passed away on October 19, 1988. She was a bookbinder for Speaker-Heinz-Thomas in Lansing, and she enjoyed crocheting, knitting & she liked to travel. Alta was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lansing, Michigan and of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her daughter Haila S. & Larry Hayner of St. Johns, 3 grandchildren; Shondra Hayner of St. Johns, Eric (Heather) Hayner of Kalamazoo, Brett Hayner of St. Johns, 1 great-grandson Owen Hallead, brother Marion "Bud" Ries, and 1 sister Frances Irvin. She is predeceased by parents, her husband, and her siblings; Edna, Mina, Wilbur, Inez, Irene, and Frank.

Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.
