Alta Smith

Alta May Smith, age 75, of Ithaca, MI passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel, Ithaca, Michigan on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 11:00 A.M with Rev. Daniel Botsford officiating. Burial will take place at Pritchard Cemetery, Sumner Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 6 - 8 P.M. and on Monday, June 18, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Alta was born in Lansing, Michigan on December 2, 1936, the daughter of Alton and May (Buxton) Kilts. On August 27, 1953 Alta married Melvin Smith in Lansing, MI. Melvin died on April 21, 2007. Alta enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. She also liked playing cards knitting and crocheting. Alta loved to spend time with her family.

She is survived by daughter Patricia and Chris Knopf of Elwell, MI, daughter Robin Kinney of Ithaca, MI, son Rick and Brenda Smith of Lansing, MI, daughter Elena Burr of Perrinton, MI, son Scott Smith of Ithaca, MI, 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and sister Eloise and Lloyd Steppey of Shelby Twp. MI. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Melvin, granddaughter Donna May Peters, and sister Beth Gentner.
