Alvin Woodrow Bolin, 79, of Mt. Pleasant, MI, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Alma, MI.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Kentucky. Alvin will be buried next to his wife in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.

Alvin was born in Somerset, KY on January 30, 1941, the son of Evenis and Martha (Hurd) Bolin. He graduated from the Kentucky Institute for the Deaf.

On February 7, 1974 Alvin married Alpha "Jingles" Richards. Alpha passed away in 2017 after 43 years of marriage.

Alvin loved his family and always looked forward to spending time with them playing ball or whatever. He enjoyed playing games and joking around. He and Alpha enjoyed participating in Deaf social gatherings. Alvin always liked to go for walks whenever possible.

Alvin is survived by his daughter Bonnie Bolin and fiancé Ken Striggow of Mt. Pleasant, 4 granddaughters: Amber (Toren) Sanchez of Kingsville, TX, Rebekah McNerney of Mt. Pleasant. Rachel McNerney of Shepherd, and Amanda McNerney of Mt. Pleasant; and 3 great grandsons Casey, Kayden, and Bekham. He is also survived by siblings: Hubert (Suzie) Bolin, Bobby Bolin, Anna (Allen) Holloway, Kinda (Cecil) Phillips, and Donna Fultz, and sister-in-law Sondra Bolin.  Alvin was preceded in death by his mother Martha Bolin, father Evenis (Marie) Bolin, wife Alpha, and siblings: Juanita Bottom, Kathy Bolin, Naomi Bolin, Dale Bolin, and David Bolin.

Memorials may be made to the Kentucky School of the Deaf - 303 S. 2nd St., Danville, KY 40422.  Online condolences may be made at www.smithfamilyfuneralhomes.com. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, MI.
