Alvin Ferris Hipolite, 84, of Ithaca, MI, passed away surrounded by his family Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at the home in which he was born.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery at on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor E. J. Wolf officiating. For those unable to attend the service, you are welcome to view the service on the Smith Family Funeral Facebook page.

Alvin was born in Ithaca, MI on December 22, 1936, the son of Ferris and Florence (Wheelock) Hipolite. He graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1955 and resided all of his life in the Ithaca area.

On October 12, 1958, Alvin married Donna Lea Clark at the Ithaca Methodist Church. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage prior to her death on January 13, 2020. They were members of Ithaca Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Alvin loved to talk about the Bible and to study with others about the truths found in it. He had a passion to study and share the prophecies found in the Books of Daniel and Revelation, Michael our Prince, the cleansing of the Sanctuary in Heaven, the Three Angel messages and other important subjects given by God for us today as we live in the last days of this earth's history.

Alvin loved going to Canada fishing and watching wildlife. He was mechanically inclined and could fix anything. He cherished his time gardening with his daughter Carrie. Alvin was a generous man who enjoyed giving anything he had to his family, friends and anyone in need. Most of all, Alvin adored his family and took every opportunity to tease them.

Alvin is survived by 6 children: Ferris (Lori) Hipolite, Scott (Kelly) Hipolite, Clarissa Leslie, Florence (Dave) Stead, Laura (Bill) Compton, and Wayne (Melissa) Hipolite. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Ladette (David) Smith, Jeremy (Kristina) Leslie, Brandon (Paige) Hipolite, Emily (Thomas) Weaver, Brooke (Mike) Lowell, Kyle Slagell, Ferris Hipolite, Bennett (Paige) Allen, Alexandria Slagell, Heather Stead, Hannah Hipolite, Carmen (Jeff) Sommerville, and Craig (Rachel) Compton; and 18 great-grandchildren with one on the way.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, brother William Hipolite, sister Lorraine (William) Foster, and infant siblings Robert and Bernice Hipolite.

The family would like to thank Suzie King, for her special care of their parents for the past several years, who became like one of the family. They also wish to thank Charity Burt and the other caregivers for their compassion during the last few weeks.
