Alvin E. Honke, age 91, of Owosso, MI passed away Friday, September 17, 2010 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 12:00 P.M. Chaplain Beverly Adcock will officiate and burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday September 18, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
Alvin was born in Redford, Michigan on September 21, 1918, the son of Albert and Leonie (Rigoulot) Honke. Alvin resided most of his life in the Owosso area. Alvin married Winifred Danielsen on July 3, 1943 in Owosso. She passed away on September 21, 1991.
Alvin was a member of the F&AM No. 81 of Owosso. He served his country in the U.S. Army Division of 72nd Field Artillery Brigade and 177th Field Artillery during WW II in Europe. Alvin liked working with his Pulling Ponies and his John Deere Tractors.
He is survived by his nephew Glen and Joan Honke of Corunna, MI, niece Wauneta and Wayne Ritter of Byron, MI, nephew Norman and Sandra Honke of Houghton Lake, MI, niece Marilyn and Jerry Beach of Hastings, MI, sister-in-law Dorothy Honke of Hougton Lake, MI. Alvin is also survived by several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Grace Wrigley, and brothers Edward, Walter, Eli and Howard Honke.
