Alvin Zimmerman

Alvin "Al" R. Zimmerman, age 92, of Ithaca, MI passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, Michigan on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Dave Perry officiating. Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery Breckenridge, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Alvin was born in Hamilton Township, Gratiot County, Michigan on April 23, 1923, the son of Wilson Robert and Stella (Kesling) Zimmerman. On June 10, 1944 he married Lillian Curtis in Sickles, Michigan. Al was a lifelong farmer in Emerson Township. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending many winters in Apache Junction, AZ. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II.

He is survived by his wife Lillian Zimmerman, children; Robert and Mary Zimmerman of Breckenridge, MI, James and Mary Ann Zimmerman of Ashley, MI, Rosemary and Mike Bailey of Scottsdale, AZ, 6 grandchildren; Kelli and Matt Schmitz of Breckenridge, MI, Molly and Chad Snyder of Breckenridge, MI, Matt and Amanda Zimmerman of Ashley, MI, Brooke and Jason Colvin of Phoenix, AZ, Maggie and Dan Moffett of Breckenridge, MI, Brent Bailey of Los Angeles, CA, 12 great grandchildren and his sister Elsie and Gerald Westall of Ithaca, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and 5 sisters.
