AnaBel Marie Peck age 90 of Elsie, Michigan died Saturday, August 27, 2005 at her home. Funeral services will be at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel, Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be Monday & Tuesday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Burial will take place at Eureka Cemetery, Eureka, Michigan, Pastor Diane Gordon will officiate.
AnaBel was born in Thacker, West Virginia on October 20, 1914, the daughter of Louis & Barbara ( Ponyik ) Zelenak. At the age of 2 when her father died, she went to live with Edwin & Cora ( McDaid ) Crowell in Pompeii, Michigan. She graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1933 and attended Gratiot County Normal and received a teaching degree.
In 1941 she married Ray W. Peck at the Greenbush United Methodist Church, Ray died September 27, 1983. She was a homemaker and did teach school in her earlier years at the Kellogg & Lemon and Henderson schools. AnaBel wrote a newspaper column for a number of news papers called Farmer Peets Wife, she wrote the column for 38 years. She was a former 4-H Leader in Clinton County for 52 years, she also was a member of numerous civic organizations and clubs. She resided most of her life in Elsie and was a member of Bannister United Methodist Church, Bannister, Michigan.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Marcella & Ken Tarrant of Chesaning, Michigan, Maureen & Danny Carlson of Prior Lakes, Minnesota, 1 son, Matt & Michelle Peck of Elsie, Michigan, 6 grandchildren & 2 great grandsons, 3 sisters, Helen Gayer of Colorado, Olga Horvath of Tucson, Arizona, Mary Galluci of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, 1 sister in law, Virginia Crowell of St. Johns, Michigan. She was predeceased by her parents, 1 infant daughter Coyla Jean, 3 sisters & 6 brothers.
Memorials may be made to the Bannister United Methodist Church, Elsie Public Library, Clinton County 4-H programs.
