Anna Elizabeth Sopocy, age 97, of Bannister, MI passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Thomas J. Bradley officiating. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 17, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. and on Monday, August 18, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI.
Anna was born in Ashley, Michigan on February 10, 1917, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Kresanek) Grigar. Anna married Samuel Sopocy on January 1, 1937 in North Star, Michigan. Samuel preceded her in death on February 9, 2003. Anna enjoyed baking, embroidery and gardening. She was dedicated to her military family, always sending care packages to them over seas. Anna was a dietician at the Ashley Care Center for over 20 years and she was a member of the Kelsey School Board for many years. Anna loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Betty Lorraine Collier of Kingwood, TX; daughter Judy and Jerry Dick of Dewitt, MI; daughter Violet and Bruce Johnson of Hanover, MI; son John and Marilyn Sopocy of Bannister, MI; son Samuel Jr. and Connie Sopocy of Bannister, MI. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and 2 sister in laws. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, one granddaughter, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
