Anne Marie (Kenney) Barton

    Anne Marie Barton, age 87, of St. Johns, MI, formerly of Maple Rapids, MI, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI.

      Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.

      Anne was born in Ithaca, Michigan on May 23, 1936, the daughter of Lyle Gaylord and Agnes Juanita (Duckworth) Kenney. She graduated from Ithaca High School. In 1964, Anne married Leland Dale Barton. They were married fifteen years prior to his passing on June 23, 1979. 

      Anne was a member of the Red Hat Society for many years. She was a bargain hunter and enjoyed finding the best deal wherever she went. She was an avid reader of everything and liked to go camping with her family. She loved cats and collected anything related to them.

      Anne was a hard worker. Over the years she worked as a cook and then spent several years as a CNA at the Laurels of Fulton. Anne was a caretaker for many people. She devoted herself to caring for her family and loved spending time with them.

      She is survived by four children: Elizabeth "Lucy" (Ed) Jarman of Palmer, AK; Amy (Gary) Nowak of Maple Rapids, MI; Lyle (Vivian) Barton of El Paso, TX; and Katy (Mike) Becker of St. Johns, MI; seven grandchildren: Jared Carpenter, Preston Carpenter, Anthony Bancroft, Kyle Blemaster, Sabrina Huynh, Brennen Grant, and John Becker; four great- grandchildren: Layla, Bradley, Olivia, and Blake; two brothers: Daniel Kenney, and Howard (Mary) Kenney; brother-in-law Alan "Bake" Schafer, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leland Dale Barton (1979), son Lloyd Barton, son-in-law Greg Carpenter, sister Alice Schafer, and sister-in-law Diane Kenney.
