Archie Junior Moore, age 88, of Elsie, Michigan died Monday, September 12, 2011 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Elsie United Methodist Church, Elsie, Michigan on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Edwin Snook officiating. Burial will take place at Fairfield Township Cemetery Fairfield Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 6-8 P.M. and on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, Michigan. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Archie was born in Chapin, Michigan on February 11, 1923, the son of Archie E. and Esther (Weibers) Moore. He attended Elsie High School and graduated with the class of 1941. On October 2 1949 Archie married Rosemary Scott at the Elsie United Methodist Church, Rosemary died January 26, 2002. On May 10, 2003 he married Ethel (McNamara) Wilson she survives him.
Archie resided most of his life in the Elsie area and retired from Midland-Ross in Owosso in 1981. He then worked for USPS as a substitute rural carrier. Archie enjoyed feeding birds and visiting with people in his community. He was a golfer and enjoyed traveling and taking photos. He served his country in W.W.II in the US Navy and was a member of American Legion Post #502, Elsie.
Archie was a member of the Masonic Lodge #238 and was one of the first EMT's and a CPR instructor on the Elsie Ambulance Service. He served as a past Elsie Village councilman for many years. He was a member of Elsie United Methodist Church.
He is survived by wife Ethel Moore of Elsie, MI, son Barry and Katie Moore of Elsie, MI, brother Fred and Doris Moore of Owosso, MI, sister in law Arlene and Robert Somers of Elsie, MI, stepdaughter, Julie and Jim McMahon of Lexington, SC, stepson, Thomas and Cindy Wilson of Ashley, MI, 5 step grandsons, and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, first wife Rosemary, and brother in law Rex Scott.
