Ardis Dawn Cooley, age 95, of Owosso, MI passed away Monday, August 15, 2011 at Masonic Pathways, Alma, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church 114 W. Mason St., Owosso, MI on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Ray A. Strawser II will officiate. Visitation with her family will be held on Wednesday August 17, 2011 from 6-8 P.M. at First Baptist Church.
Ardis was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 18, 1916, the daughter of L. Clyde and Flossie (Taylor) Reed. Ardis was a graduate of Lansing Central High School, class of 1936. Ardis married Claude Cooley on June 22, 1940 in Lansing, MI. Claude passed away April 9, 2011 after 70 years of marriage. She resided most of her life in Owosso.
Ardis worked as a Teacher's Aide at Owosso Junior High School for 13 years. She also had worked at White's Bakery. Ardis was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was very active, especially with American Baptist Women. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Michigan Retired School Personnel. Ardis and Claude loved to travel, traveling to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean. She loved to bake and cook for her family and friends. Ardis' favorite pastimes were to sew, garden and read. Spending time with her children and grandchildren brought her much joy.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Claudia and Duane Savage of Pensacola, FL, son Philip and Mae Cooley of Owosso, MI, daughter Linda and James Stebleton of Mecosta, MI, daughter Kay Cooley of Owosso, MI, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Ardis was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 sisters.
