Arlieta Sawyer

Arlieta Mildred Sawyer age 73, of Bath, MI, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Hospice House of Shiawassee County, Owosso, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Laingsburg, 901 East Grand River, Laingsburg, MI 48848, on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Steve Brown officiating.  Burial will take place at Laingsburg Cemetery, Laingsburg, MI.  Visitation will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Laingsburg.

Arlieta was born in Laingsburg, Michigan on August 15, 1943, the daughter of Bertie and Carrie (Stevens) Shiffer. She graduated from Laingsburg High School with the class of 1961.

Arlieta retired from Michigan State University's Cyclotron Lab in 2008. She enjoyed Chinese buffets and walking the Meridian Mall with special friend Jim Parker.  She loved traveling to Mackinaw Island, visiting lighthouses, spending time outside and spending time with her cats. Arlieta always attended grandparents day, Clinton County 4-H fairs, and numerous sporting events that her grandchildren participated in.  She was a member of the Laingsburg Legion and attended First Baptist Church of Laingsburg.

She is survived by her daughters; Cindy and Rob Carter, Christy Darling, Angie Sawyer, Monica Stevens, special friend Jim Parker, grandchildren; Kylee and Trevor Gorang, Zachary Carter, Kelsey Carter, Jessica and Mike Carie, Jacob  Darling, Alexis and Isabel Darling-Filipiak, Joshua and Brittany Sawyer, Ciara Sawyer, sister Viola Moore and brother Bertie (Bud) Shiffer.  She was preceded in death by her parents, grandsons; Ryan and David Darling, half sister Norma Speckins, brother in law Donald Moore and sister in law Patty-Sue Shiffer.
