Arnel Davis

Arnel J. Davis, age 83, of Corunna, MI passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 1:00 P.M., Chaplain Beverly Adcock will officiate. Burial will follow at Pine Tree Cemetery Corunna, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday February 28, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Arnel was born in St. Johns, Michigan on July 31, 1926, the son of John and Lizzie (Kinsey) Davis. He attended Owosso High School and was a Corunna resident most of his life. Arnel served in the U.S. Marines as a Cpl. He married Doris Lecureux on November 4, 1950.

Arnel was a member of the Corunna VFW Post #4005 where he served as Commander, volunteer and cook. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader, as well as a Scout Master in Corunna. Arnel retired from GM after 28 1/2 years working in Flint at the Ternsted Plant as a pipefitter and maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, wintering in Arizona, silversmithing, stained glass projects, mountain climbing and lapidary.

He is survived by his wife Doris Davis of Corunna, MI, son Donald and Barb Davis of North Royalton, OH, daughter Beverly Davis of Westerville, OH, son Robert and Barb Davis of Corunna, MI, daughter Dana and Darrell Conley of Bath, MI, daughter Pat and Chris Simmons of Laingsburg, MI, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters: Lucille Dickerson, Mildred Spiegel, & Sharon Bramer, and 3 brothers; Ken, Harold & George Davis. Arnel was preceded in death by his son Arnel Davis, Jr. while serving in Vietnam, parents, sister Eva Hall and brother Alvin Davis.
