Arnetia Johan Mills, age 77, of Ashley died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel, 1333 E. Center Street, Ithaca, on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor George Showers will officiate. Burial will take place at Collier Cemetery, Pompeii. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Arnetia was born in Ashley on December 23, 1932, the daughter of Frank and Ruby (Bolyard) Huss. She graduated from Fulton High School with the class of 1950. Arnetia married William Carl Mills from North Star on April 19, 1949 in Ithaca. He passed away May 13, 1984. Arnetia had been employed by Redman Manufacturing in Ithaca for 20+ years until their closure. After which, she gained employment with Sealed Powers, Inc. of St. Johns. Working in final inspection, she exemplified her means as an employee by fulfilling 27+ years of perfect attendance before retiring. She enjoyed camping, fishing (even though deathly afraid of water), had a natural ability for playing any musical instrument, singing, yodeling, cooking, watching / feeding wildlife from her home, and writing poetry. She had also received the Betty Crocker Award for the entry of her Spanish Rice recipe. She loved telling jokes, pulling pranks with her family/friends and gave her wonderful sense of humor to all she came in contact with. Arnetia loved her "Honeywagon" 1983 Ford Mustang convertible. She attended the Pompeii United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her fiancé Jack Birdsley of St. Johns, son William Jr. (Karen) of Alma, son Wayne, Sr. of Crystal, daughter Cristy (Gary) of Shepherd, son Jay (Anita) of Bannister, 9 grandchildren; Trina, Todd, William III, Wayne Jr., Brian, Brandon, Jacob, Jeremy, and Brandy, 25 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, sister Laura Powers of Maple Rapids, and brother Ernest and Ellen Huss of St. Johns. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, a son, a granddaughter, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters.
