Audrey Mae Hoddy age 85 of Middleton, WI formerly of Owosso, MI died Monday, August 4, 2008 at St. Mary Hospital, Madison, WI.
Funeral Services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Owosso, MI on Friday, August 8, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be held Oak Hill Cemetery Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 from 6-8 P.M. and on Thursday, August 7, 2008 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI.
Audrey was born in Owosso, Michigan on August 27, 1922, the daughter of Robert and Hattie Mae (Decker) Wing. She graduated from Owosso High School with the class of 1940. She lived in Engadine, MI, Holland, MI and then Owosso, MI until 1974 when she moved to Madison, WI. Audrey married Raymond A. Hoddy on June 23, 1944 at the Corunna Avenue Methodist Church. He died on July 21, 1994. Audrey was a homemaker. Her family was her life and very important to her. She survived 2 brain surgeries, the first in 1957 when she became the first survivor at the University of Michigan Hospital of that type of surgery. Her second surgery was in 1977. Audrey was known as "The Card Lady" because she was always sending cards for all occasions to friends and family. She was the Dining Room Hostess at Middleton Glen where she lived. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was very active.
She is survived by 2 sons; George R. and Jan Hoddy of Ixonia, WI, Jerry R. Hoddy of Bagdad, AZ, 2 daughters; Mary E. Hoddy of Middleton, WI, Marti H. and Joseph Hunt of Oconomowoc, WI, 8 grandchildren; Amy and Paul Patrick, Julie Stukey, Sarah and Ian Claus, Kelly and Tony Myers, Annie and J.R. Morris, Tony Uhl, Anna Uhl, David Devett, 4 great grandchildren; Nicholas Stukey, Madison Myers, Lacey Myers, and Sophia Morris, 2 sisters; Ginny and Bob Parks of Texas, Phyllis and Gordon Brown of Owosso, MI., 3 brothers; Lloyd & Dorothy Wing of Owosso, MI, Mert & Mary Wing of Owosso, MI, Chuck & Nancy Wing of Okemos, MI, and 2 sisters-in-law; Almie Wing of Corunna, MI, and Theresa Wing of Owosso, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, grandson Jeremy Patrick, and 3 brothers; Ernie Wing, Elmer & Doretta Wing & Cliff Wing.
