Audrey Jean Shaw, age 84, of Ithaca, MI went home to be with Jesus on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Masonic Pathways in Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Louis Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. Pastor Tom Crider will officiate. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery in Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 11, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
Audrey was born in Lansing, Michigan on December 3, 1927, the daughter of Clarence and Nyda (Dailey) Downs. She graduated Ithaca High School with the class of 1945. Audrey married Carl Shaw October 6, 1945 in North Star, MI. Audrey retired from the USDA office in Ithaca after many years of service. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren who were the love of her life. Audrey also enjoyed playing games, camping, cooking, puzzle books, and spent several winters in Florida. She was a member of the St. Louis Church of the Nazarene. She and Carl were founding members of the Ithaca Wesleyan Church, and was very active in church activities all of her life. Audrey also enjoyed church camps during the summer.
She is survived by her husband Carl Shaw of Ithaca, MI, daughter Sandra and Glenn Hinterman of Ferry, MI, 3 sons Lawrence Shaw of Ithaca, MI, James and Dolores Shaw of Perrinton, MI, Roger and Carol Shaw of Hamilton, OH, 11 grandchildren; Jennifer, Brad, Chad, Jacqueline, Joe, John, Amanda, Carl, John, Nic, and Bethany, 20 great grandchildren; Lawrence, Mark, Rasheed, Bryan, Jonathan, Brittany, Paige, Skylar, Travis, Brayden, Kerstyn, Lilli Jo, Mikayla, Carter, Addy, Ali, Isaac, Kenzie, Lucas, and Charlotte, 2 great great grandchildren; Kaelynn and Matthew, 2 brothers; William and Keitha Downs of Lansing, MI, DeWayne Downs of Saranac, MI, in laws Glen and Jean Shaw of Lansing, MI, Robert and Rita Shaw of Breckenridge, Gaytha and Dale Tuttle of Ashley, MI, and numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Evelyn Curtis, and a great granddaughter Faith.
