Axalene Hawk, age 90, of St. Louis, MI died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel on Friday, February 13, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., Rev. Tim Patch will officiate. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday one hour prior to services at Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Axalene was born in Alma, Michigan on January 29, 1919, the daughter of George Wallace and Jessie Irene (Foster) Bartshe. She attended Ithaca Schools. Axalene married Sherman "Red" Hawk on July 18, 1936 in Saginaw. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by a sister Lois Patch of Plainwell, MI, a brother Tom Bartshe of Lansing, MI, nieces; Sheryl and Wayne Patch, Gay Reinert, Lori Bartshe, Carole and Elmon Evey, Diana and Dean Bradley, and Sarah Smith, nephews; Cale Bartshe Jr., Jim Bartshe, Rob Bartshe, Rick Bartshe, Scott Bartshe, Tim Patch, Tom Patch, Steven Bartshe, Phillip Bartshe, and 4 grandchilren Scott, Steven, Susan, and Sherrie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Charles Hawk, brothers Harry, Cale, Robert & George, and a sister Dorothy "Helen" Smith.
