Barbara Cleland

Barbara M. (Brewbaker) Cleland, age 82, of Owosso, MI passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Avalon Hospice, Flint, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor John Forsee will officiate. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 29, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Barbara was born in St. Johns, Michigan on November 16, 1929, the daughter of Gerald and Doris (Jolly) Cleland.

Barbara attended Maple Rapids Public School and resided most of her life in Clinton and Shiawassee Counties. She worked as a waitress, caregiver and clerk over the years. Barbara loved to travel and shop. She was an organist at Calvary Baptist Church of Owosso and more recently played at Owosso United Missionary Church. Barbara loved to spend time with family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a very important part of her life.

She was married to Donald Brewbaker for 28 years and had five children. Don passed away in 1990. Cherishing her memory are her daughter Sheila West of Vestaburg, MI; daughter Jean and Lee Jenks of Bad Axe, MI; daughter Karan Thomas of Port Byron, IL; son Bob and Debbie Brewbaker of Swartz Creek, MI; daughter Cindy and Skeeter (Ed) Covert of Owosso, MI; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Shirley Cleland and great-grandson, Kayden Swanson.
