Barbara Jean Day, age 88, of Durand, MI passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Ron Wilson officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday March 2, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home. A Ladies Auxiliary Service will be held at 6:00 P.M.
Barbara was born in Owosso, Michigan on February 21, 1924, the daughter of Quinton D. and Louise B. (Marks) Mason. Barbara resided most of her life in the Owosso area.
Barbara was a member of the VFW Post 9455 Auxiliary and a life member of the DAV Post 133 of Mancelona, MI. She liked doing crossword puzzles, playing Bingo and was a wonderful cook. Bird watching was one of her favorite pastimes. Barbara was a Tiger fan and enjoyed watching the games.
She is survived by her 2 sons; Gregory Day of Mayor, AZ, Brian Day of Mayor, AZ, daughter Jennifer Day of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, 8 grandchildren; Megan (Day) Church, Jason Day, Amber (Day) DeLong, Alexander, Clayton, Chloe, Eric and Samuel Day, 9 great grandchildren, 2 brothers; Wayne and Betty Mason of Iowa, Jack and Joyce Mason of Hoxeyville, MI, 3 sisters; Donna Garske of Owosso, MI, JoAnn Polhamus of Farwell, MI, Thelma and Harold Tobey of Owosso, MI, and many nieces & nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters & 2 brothers.
