Barbara Jones

Barbara Dianne Jones age 81, of Ovid, MI, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Ovid Healthcare Center.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI, on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Robert Nystrom officiating.  Burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery Bay City, MI.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Barbara was born in Bay City, MI on November 29, 1936, the daughter of Aldin Ford and Irene Helene (Lang) Spear. She graduated from high school in 1954. On March 29, 1961 Barbara married Earl Paul Jones in Florida; Paul died on December 20, 1994.

Barbara worked for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Office, Baton Rouge, LA, and she also worked at MMPA in Ovid, MI. She was a member of United Church of Ovid; she enjoyed participating in church programs and was a former choir member.  She also enjoyed doing embroidery in her spare time.

She is survived by her children: daughter Debra and Dusty Anderson of Ovid, MI; daughter Linda and Mitchel Janes of Baton Rouge, LA; son Paul and Mikki Jones of Boyne Falls, MI; daughter Barbara Jones of Greenville, MI; 8 grandchildren: Kristina, Jeremy, Josh, Adam, Jaala, Noah, Rosanne, and Ashleigh; 13 great grandchildren; and sister in law Bobbie Spear of FL.  She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and brother Rod.
