Barbara Vining

Barbara "Ruthie" Vining, age 83, of Ithaca, Michigan, died Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Laurels of Fulton in Perrinton, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, Michigan on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Ithaca, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 4-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca chapel.

Barbara was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on November 5, 1928, the daughter of Walter S. and Edith (Gepford) Carey. She graduated form Sacred Heart Academy, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan with the class of 1947. On August 10, 1954 she married Desmond Vining who predeceased her in 1977. She resided most of her life in Ithaca, Michigan. Barbara was a homemaker and did child care for her family and she was proud of her Irish heritage.

She is survived by her daughter Carol and Carl Rummer of Perrinton, MI, son Gary Vining of Ithaca, MI, grandchildren; Brad and Stephannie Rummer of Ithaca, MI, Chad and Holly Burke Rummer of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Jenna Rummer and fiancé Morgan Vallen of Perrinton, MI, and great grandchildren; Allison and Elora. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, brother Richard, and sister Madeline Smalley.
