Barney McCourt

Barney Rex McCourt age 58 of Owosso, MI passed away Monday, October 20, 2008 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at First Church of Christ, Owosso, MI on Friday, October 24, 2008 at 1:00 PM, Pastor Marlene Webster and Pastor Chris Higgins will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 5-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel.

Barney was born in Lansing, Michigan on August 17, 1950, the son of Herbert Francis and Doris Ilene (Laberteaux) McCourt. He graduated from Sexton High School, Lansing with the class of 1969. Barney married his beloved, Melanie Bell on May 7, 1977 in Lansing, MI and they were devoted to one another for many years. He resided most of his life in Lansing and Owosso, moving to Owosso in 1977. His children were very important in his life. Barney's whole life was devoted to his family and providing for them.

He is survived by his wife, Melanie McCourt of Owosso, MI, son, Ryan McCourt and fiancée Miranda Hursh of Owosso, MI, daughter, Marcy McCourt of Owosso, MI, brother, Michael and Pamela McCourt of Greenbush, MI, and 2 sisters: Margaret and Joseph Bedes of Grand Ledge, MI, and Patricia and Tom O'Malley of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.
