Beatrice Palmer

Beatrice Marie "Bea" Palmer age 91, of Alma, MI passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at Masonic Pathways, Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Doig Chapel - Masonic Pathways, Alma, MI on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:00 A.M.   Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI.

Beatrice was born in Howell, MI on January 14, 1926, the daughter of Rodney and Thyra Sleaford.  Bea graduated from Howell High School with the class of 1943.  She married Walter Thomas Palmer on February 15, 1947 in Lansing, MI.  He preceded her in death on January 30, 2009.

Bea was born and raised in Howell, MI.  She also resided in Lansing until moving to Alma.  She enjoyed cake decorating, ceramics, and crocheting.  Bea worked for many years as a seamstress for Brides' Showcase in East Lansing, worked as a "My Gal Friday" temporary office assistant during the 1960's and retired from the State of Michigan Unemployment Agency in 1992.  She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Alma, MI.

Bea is survived by three children; Erin (John) Harrier of Alma, Tim (Erin) Palmer of Alma, and John Palmer of Ithaca, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Mary Palmer of Charlotte and sister Merib (Fred) Krueger of Charlevoix.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, daughter Thyra, sons; Thomas and Scott, and brother William.
