Beatrice Underwood

Beatrice A. Underwood, age 94, of East Lansing, MI died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Whitehills Health Care Center in East Lansing.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., Rev. Richard H. Boyd will officiate. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 for one hour prior to services from 10-11 AM at Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Beatrice was born in St. Louis, Michigan on April 19, 1915, the daughter of Loyd E. and Iva J. (Conklin) Smith. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1933. Beatrice married Earl N. Underwood on December 3, 1933. He passed away on August 27, 1975. Beatrice had resided most of her life in the Lansing area. She was very proud to have attended her 75th Class Reunion in 2008. She was a member of First Christian Church Lansing, MI.

She is survived by her son Conroy and Daryles Underwood of Tennessee, her daughter Colleen Dutkiewicz of East Lansing, MI, 13 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 22 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 daughter Carol Bentley, 1 son Carl Underwood, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
