Belva Zimmerman

Belva S. Zimmerman, age 79, of St. Louis, MI passed away on June 12, 2009 at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant, MI.

She was born November 11, 1929 in Ithaca, MI to the late Sherman Edgar and Letha (Perdew) Edgar. Belva graduated from Ithaca High School in 1948 and married Ronald D. Zimmerman on August 27, 1950.

Belva was a farmer's wife and worked tirelessly alongside her husband on their Midland County farm. Her passion was her many flower beds, especially her roses and gladiolus. Belva was also an accomplished seamstress, sewing anything from homecoming dresses to flannel diapers for her grand kids to square dance dresses. She was well known for "Belva's chicken" and homemade baked beans. Sundays were reserved for family dinners and afternoons of various card games. Once the kids were grown and gone, Ron and Belva joined Calico Couples Square Dance Club and became avid square dancers, making countless new friends along the way. They also began wintering in Bradenton, Florida, a tradition they continued until Belva could no longer tolerate traveling.

Belva is survived by her husband, Ronald, daughters, Janet Davila of Sanford, Carol (Gary ) Lantzer of St. Louis, and son, Melvin (Marcia) Zimmerman, of St. Louis; grandchildren, Olivia (Milo) van der Leij and Grace Davila; Jeremy (Lillie) Lantzer, Ryan (Erin) Lantzer and Lindsay (Andy) Young; and Nicholas Zimmerman and Kelli Zimmerman; as well as great grandchildren, Elise and Lana van der Leij; Corbin, Sophie, Emma, and Colson Lantzer; Caeden Lantzer; and Keagan Young and Nila Leonard; 2 brothers Richard (Kay) Edgar, Don (Dee) Edgar, and a sister Beverly Teeters. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Arlan Edgar
