Benjamin Rolfe

Benjamin Charles "Gentle Ben" Rolfe age 64 of Chapin, MI, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 peacefully at his home with his family surrounding him.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI, on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 1:00 P.M with Wild Bill officiating.  Burial will take place at Wildwood Cemetery, Chesaning, MI.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M., and on Wednesday from 11-1 P.M. prior to the service.

Benjamin was born in Owosso, Michigan on July 28, 1952, the son of Verold "Bud" and Elizabeth "Betty" (Schroeder) Rolfe.  He was a graduate of Chesaning Union Schools and resided all of his life in Chapin.  Ben married Dawn Zimmerman on July 23, 1983 in Chapin, MI.

Ben loved being with his family and especially his grandchildren.  Ben worked as a janitor at Chesaning Schools and then retired from the Lear Plant in Elsie.  He was a member of the Iron Wheels Motorcycle Club since 1975.  Ben was an avid animal lover with special interest in raising horses.  Riding his Harley "Myrtle" was his passion.

He is survived by his wife Dawn Rolfe of Elsie, MI, 2 sons; Charlie and Stacy Rolfe of Chesaning, MI, Jeremiah Rolfe of Elsie, MI, daughter Anna and Matt Carpenter of Elsie, MI, 5 grandchildren; Collin, Kyle and Hailey Rolfe, Leyah Rolfe and Kloie Carpenter, mother Betty Rolfe of Elsie, MI, sister Linda and Darrel Marshall of Elsie, MI, and 2 brothers; Dan and Barbara Rolfe of Elsie, MI, and Dave and Heidi Rolfe of Elsie, MI.  Ben was preceded in death by his father Bud Rolfe in 1994.
