Bernard Jeffery Smith age 75 of Corunna, Michigan since 1973 died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at the Salvation Army Flint Citadel Corps Community Center Flint, MI on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 7:00 PM. Captian Jon Augenstein will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel and Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Salvation Army Flint Citadel Corps Community Center from 6:00 P.M. until time of service.
Bernard was born in Flint, Michigan on August 1, 1932 the son of Fred and Marion ( MacDougall ) Smith. He resided most of his life in Flint until 1954 and graduated from Central High School, and from 1955 - 1973 he lived in Flushing, Michigan Bernard married Melva R. Brown in Flint, Michigan on June 14, 1952. He worked for Indian Trail for 30 years, and had over 1 million safety miles, he retired in 1996. He was a train enthusiast and enjoyed people and spending time with his family and church family. Bernard was a Salvation Army Citadel Life Member.
He is survived by his wife Melva Smith of Corunna, MI, son Brian Smith & Denise Munger of Corunna, MI, daughter Karen & Richard Kinsley of The Woodlands, TX, grandchildren; Kristen Kinsley of Virginia Beach, VA, Harrison Kinsley of The Woodlands, TX, 2 brothers; John A. & Jean Smith of Clearwater, FL, Edward F. & Roberta Smith of Swartz Creek, MI, 1 sister Ruth Y. & Henry Tempel of Corunna, MI, 1 sister in law Edith Smith of Swartz Creek, MI, and several nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by His parents, and 1 brother Alfred H. Smith.
Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army Flint Citadel Corps Youth Band or the Songsters Program. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
