Bernice Anna Hoebecke

     Bernice Anna "Bea" Hoebecke, age 98, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
     Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 25, 2025, with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams presiding. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
     Bernice was born in Hemlock, Michigan on July 28, 1926, the daughter of John and Catherine (Collier) Hubbell. She married Arthur "Archie" Hoebecke and he passed away in 2000.
     Bea was a cook at Main Street Cafe for over 19 years; she took a lot of pride in her work and was very dedicated. She made many special friends while working there and was quite loved. Prior to Main Street Cafe she worked at Dailey's. Bea made the best pies from scratch and potato salad. She loved gardening, her favorite flowers were peonies and lilacs but she could really grow anything. Bea kept very busy taking care of her home until she went to Hazel Findlay, she will always be remembered as being independent. She took great pride in caring for her home and her yard. Going to garage sales on Tuesdays was one of her favorite things to do. Bea was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns.
     She is survived by her daughter Jeanette Collins of Holt, MI; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; her work family; many nieces & nephews. Bea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Archie Hoebecke, daughter in infancy Mary Theresa Hoebecke, grandsons: Scott McRae and Joe McRae, also her siblings: Ed, Gene, Margaret, and Edna.
