Berniece Jensen

Berniece Christine Jensen, age 89, of St. Louis, MI died Monday, September 30, 2013 at Spectrum Health Rehab & Nursing Center, Greenville, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, St. Louis, MI on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 11:30 A.M., with Pastor Terri Bentley officiating. Burial will take place at Cato Township Cemetery, Lakeview, Michigan. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 10:30 A.M. until the time of services.

Berniece was born in Lakeview, Michigan on July 5, 1924, the daughter of J.P. and Sena (Mathersen) Jensen. She attended Cato Township, District 5 elementary school, Lakeview High School, and graduated from Central Michigan University with a Masters Degree. She taught school for St. Louis Public Schools for 32 years. Bernice was an avid reader, and enjoyed multiple craft interests. She moved to the St. Louis area in 1946. Bernice was a member of First United Methodist Church of St. Louis, where she was active on the building committee, and the U.M.W. She was also a member of the Gratiot Community Hospital Auxiliary, and of the Danish Sisterhood Lodge #65 of Greenville.

She is survived by her sister Charlotte and Robert Kruger of Lakeview, MI, sister in law Dorothy Jensen of Greenville, MI, 3 nieces, 1 nephew, many great nieces and nephews, and special friends Jean Ann Taylor and family. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Donald Jensen, sister Joyce Larsen, and niece Dana Urban.
