Bertha May Whitaker, age 84, of Elsie, MI passed away Monday, August 10, 2015 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Keith Whipple officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery Elsie, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at funeral home.

Bertha was born in Saginaw County, Michigan on July 21, 1931, the daughter of Lewis and Mary (Frasle) Bearup. In her early years she was married to Bill Loynes, then on July 3, 1959 she married Lyle Acre, Lyle died on June 14, 1999. On May 5, 2001 she married Donald Whitaker who survives her. Bertha was a homemaker. She was a member of Eureka Christian Church Eureka, MI, and resided most of her life in the Ovid - Elsie area.

She is survived by her husband Donald Whitaker of Elsie, MI, son Richard Loynes, 6 stepchildren; Edith and Mike Deming, Linda and Edwin Huested, Kae and Mick Story, Richard and Mary Acre, Aron and Linda Whitaker, Annette and Ronald Beery, 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, sister Joyce and Jerry Kohagen, and brother Jim and Kathleen Bearup. She was predeceased by her parents, grandson Aaron, sister Betty, and 2 brothers; Donald and Lloyd.
