Bessie Santrucek, age 99, of Elsie, MI died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Arlington Care Center, Newark, Ohio.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Edwin Snook will officiate. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 from 4-6 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI.

Bessie was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 23, 1910, the daughter of Frank and Blanche (Hanek) Jencik. Bessie married John Santrucek on July 1, 1933. John predeceased her in 1983. She worked along side her husband on the family farm and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and feeding birds. She resided most of her life in Bannister, moving to Elsie in 1975 and moved to Ohio in 2006. She was a lifetime member of the ZCBJ Lodge. She attended Elsie United Methodist Church, Elsie, MI, and later Centenary United Methodist Church, Granville, Ohio.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Victoria and Roy Wellington of Granville, Ohio, Jennie Hull of Fountain Hills, AZ, 9 grandchildren; Roy O. and Theo Wellington III, Michael and Myeong Ok Wellington, Dianne and David Laudenschlager, Clifford and Wendy Wellington, Debbie and Terry Link, Renee and Steve Kristmann, Christopher and Angela Hull, Zachary and Arlene Hull, Shawn and Ginger Hull, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters-in-law; Rose Santrucek of Owosso, MI, and Jennie Kubicek of Corunna, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and son-in-law Frederick Hull.
