Bessye Hickey

Bessye Mae Hickey, age 81, of Corunna, MI passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility, Corunna, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. David R. Strobe will officiate. Burial will follow at Freemont Cemetery, Bancroft, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 4-8 PM, and Sunday, September 27, 2009 from 2-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI.

Bessye was born in Gaines, Michigan on May 19, 1928, the daughter of Michael and Anna (Barbaras) Duraida. She resided most of her life in Corunna. Bessye married James Hickey on June 19, 1950. He passed away in 1981. Bessye enjoyed gardening, reading and writing poetry. She was a member of the Eastern Star.

Bessye is survived by her son James Hickey of Remus, MI, daughter Beth and Tom Gall of Corunna, MI, grandchildren; Teanna and Kyle Miller of Elsie, MI, Cpl. Kalen Gall of Okinawa, Japan, great-grandchildren; Zachary, Jarred and Maddisyn, sister Annabelle and Don Butcher of Corunna, MI and close friend Tracy Bywater. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James O. Hickey and her sister & brother in-law Mim & Ray Hollandsworth and .
her brother & sister in-law Richard and Exine Duraida.
