Betty Bashore age 85 of Elsie, Michigan died Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Memorial Healthcare Center, Owosso, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Gary Hawes will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2008 from 2-8 P.M.
Betty was born in Oakley, Michigan on June 6, 1923 the daughter of Earl and Bernice ( Wickham ) Dunham. She was raised by her father and stepmother Earl and Nida Dunham. She was a life long resident of Elsie, Michigan and graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1941. Betty married Galen Bashore on October 12, 1945 in Elsie, Michigan. He died on October 13, 2007. Betty was a homemaker and a hair dresser. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Betty was also a past 4-H Leader, taught sewing classes at Ovid-Elsie and she decorated cakes. She loved flowers, cooking and baking. Betty was a member of Duplain Church of Christ, St. Johns, Michigan.
She is survived by 2 sons; Bruce & Barbara Bashore of Florida, Gary & Beverly Bashore of Hastings, MI, 2 daughters; Diana & Jerry Guyski of Owosso, MI, Deb & Randy Hunt of Elsie, MI, 10 grandchildren; Daisy & Wesley Schafer, Betsy & Chris McCall, Tracy Bashore Clint Bashore, Thomas Bashore Kathryn & Jason Fries, Jenae & Gary VanEffen Dan & Becky Guyski, Matthew & Tina Byrnes Hillary & Nick Fabus, 14 great grandchildren, half sister Sally Hintz, and half brother Larry Pesda. She is predeceased by her parents, stepmother, husband, granddaughter Kimberly and 2 infant brothers.
Memorials may be made to The Smile Train, 41 Madison Ave., 28th Floor, New York, NY 10010, an organization to benefit infants with cleft lips, or a charity of the donor's choice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
