Betty Amanda (Critikos) Blount
Devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Betty A. Blount (83) passed away June 7, 2010.
There will be a private graveside memorial service, as her wishes.
Betty was born April 7, 1927, in Owosso, the daughter of George Critikos (Greece) and Thelma (DeVoe) Critikos (Owosso). She graduated from Owosso High School with the class of 1945 and lived most of her life in Owosso.
On May 8, 1946, she married Clyde L. Blount in Summerville, South Carolina. Mr. Blount passed away in 1982.
Betty enjoyed playing cards, doing word puzzles, gardening, cooking and taking care of her home. She was also an avid reader and lover of history, and held membership in the Shiawassee County Genealogy Society, Shiawassee County Historical Society and the Daughters of the Union. She, over the years, did volunteer work at Pleasant View Nursing Home and received her 30 year volunteer pin from Red Cross. She also loved to sew and had a small seamstress shop in her home. Her greatest love was for her family, children (2), grandchildren (5) and great-grandchildren (5).
She is survived by her son James (Kriss) Blount of Bedford, TX and daughter Janie Lynn (Dennis) Panagopoulos of Midlothian, VA; grandchildren: James (Annette) Blount, Roanoke, TX; Kristinn (Alan) Green, Riverview, FL; Andrew (Stephanie) Blount, Bedford, TX; Christopher (Kitty) Panagopoulos, Phoenix, AZ; and Nicholas (Joanna) Panagopoulos, Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren: Taylor Blount (16), Caleb and Hannah (7), Sarah (6) and Joshua (4) Blount. Also, her brother James (Sue) Critikos, Benson, AZ and sister Georgiana Weiderer, Ovid, MI and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Shiawassee Co. Genealogical Society Book Fund, Shiawassee County Historical Society, or the Daughters of the Union, adopt a flag project.
