Betty Clingenpeel

Betty Jean Clingenpeel age 89, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center – Gratiot, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Edgewood Church of God on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Matt Derby officiating.

Betty was born in Grand Rapids, MN on January 14, 1929, the daughter of Patrick and Mary (Goddell) Fitzgerald.  She graduated from Bendel High School, Flint, MI with the class of 1946.  On June 28, 1946, Betty married the love of her life Roy Clingenpeel in Flint, MI. After 62 years of living and working together, Roy passed away on September 13, 2012.

Betty was a hard worker, working alongside Roy on the family farm.  She was an excellent cook, even appearing on a television show with her donut recipe.  She passed her cooking skills on to her children.  Betty loved her grandchildren.  She enjoyed camping, traveling and the years she and Roy lived in Florida.  Betty was very active in the Edgewood Church of God in Ithaca and the First Church of God in Bradenton, FL.  She sang in the choir and often sang specials in the services.

Betty is survived by her son Don (Kay) Clingenpeel of Breckenridge, MI; daughter Beverly (Mike) Thompson of Ithaca, MI; grandchildren: Kurt Clingenpeel, Dawn Clingenpeel, Eric (Alyssa) Clingenpeel, Tracy (Kevin) Somers, and Jill (Brian) Pickrell.  She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, and a brother John (Theresa) Fitzgerald.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy in 2012, granddaughter Becky, sister Patricia and brother Paul.
