Betty Jean Peters age 74, of Ithaca, MI, left this earth on Friday, October 7, 2016. She died at her home after having a good, full life and held a deep faith in God.

Celebration of Life will be held at Ithaca Church of God, Ithaca, MI, on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Tom Whitesel and Pastor James Conn officiating.  Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, MI.  Visitation will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI.

Betty was born in Alma, Michigan on January 8, 1942, the daughter of Ronald and Helen (Havelock) Lewis.  Marriage to Ron Peters took place on August 2, 1975 and to this union they were blessed with a daughter, Tara and a son Derek.

A graduate of Alma High School class of 1960, she went on to employment at Gratiot Community Hospital. There were many years working as a medical transcriptionist in the hospital and later in the offices of local doctors. A very rewarding career.

Enjoyment came with family gatherings, short vacations to Charlevoix, daily walking while there, along with beautiful Lake Michigan sunsets, reading, writing and corresponding with friends she met on the journey. Faith and trust in the Lord was very important as she strived to live each new day for him. "Every day is a very special gift, given from above."  Betty was pleased to have a book published, "Tara's Journey, A story of Faith and Encouragement." Betty attended the Ithaca Church of God, Ithaca, MI. She enjoyed doing the Dare to Care Program where she wrote notes to people in their time of need. She was also a member of the Royal Tea Ladies of Ithaca.

Left with memories are her wonderful husband Ron and great son Derek, special daughter in law Dominique, and precious granddaughter Kennedy Kaylee, as well as any other family members and friends.  Betty was predeceased by her parents, and daughter Tara Lynn in 2015.
