Betty Rich

Betty J. Rich, age 86, of St. Louis, MI died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Schnepp Health Care Center in St. Louis.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Louis First Baptist Church on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM, Pastor Phil Maxwell will officiate. Burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, and also on Saturday for one hour prior to services at the church.

Betty was born in Logan, Ohio on September 19, 1922, the daughter of Harley and Effie Bickle. She attended St. Louis Schools. Betty married Robert Rich on October 21, 1940 in Michigan. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1986. Betty resided most of her life in St. Louis, and was a Stanley Home Products dealer, which she distributed from her home in rural St. Louis. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and vacationing at Rose Lake, near Cadillac, MI. Betty was also a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Louis, where she taught Sunday school, Awana, and vacation bible school for many years.

She is survived by 3 sons; Richard and Catherine Rich of Japan, Robert "Jim" and Janet Rich of Midland, MI, David and Connie Rich of St. Louis, MI, 12 grandchildren; Debbie, Bob, Paul, Randy, Mike, Michelle, Crystal, April, David, Kara, Tom, and Jeff, and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Patricia Hill, grandson Mark Rich, brothers; John and Harley, and sisters; Lillian, Virginia, and Gertrude.
