Betty L Sekrenes age 79 of Durand Michigan died Thursday, January 22, 2004 at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Michigan.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at New Lothrop United Methodist Church, New Lothrop, Michigan. Rev. David Fleming will officiate and burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery in New Lothrop, Michigan. Visitation will be Sunday 5-8 P.M. and Monday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. There will be an Order of Eastern Star Service Monday evening at 7:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
Betty was born on April 9, 1924 in Bridgeport, Ohio, the daughter of Lonnie & Ruby ( Smith ) Henderson. She graduated from Gaylord High School and lived most of her life in the New Lothrop & Corunna area. On August 13, 1943 she married Lewis Sekrenes in Flint, Michigan. She was a bus driver for Corunna Public Schools and she loved to cook and traveling to many national parks. Betty was a member of Juddville & New Lothrop United Methodist Church, and a member of Order of Eastern Star #312 in New Lothrop and Joba�(TM)s Daughter for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Sekrenes of Durand, Michigan, 2 sons, Dennis Sekrenes & Pat Rock of Corunna, Michigan, Martin & Lyn Sekrenes of Mason, Michigan, 2 daughters, Carol & Steve Berg of Swartz Creek, Michigan, Christine & Grant Moskowitz of San Diego, California, 5 grandchildren, Dennis, Jennifer, Holly, Erin & Hunter, 2 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Opalmae Larson of Flint, Michigan, Maxine Scott of Livermore, California. She was predeceased by her parents.
Memorials may be made to Juddville United Methodist Church or MSU Great Lakes Cancer Institute a�" Breast Cancer Research & Development. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
