Betty Snyder passed from this world on July 23, 2012. Born Elizabeth June Slagel to Elmer and Sarah Slagel on October 14, 1926, she was also known as "Curly Pete" to her brothers and sisters, who numbered 11. Born in St. Louis, MI, she also lived in St. Johns, Adrian and Lansing, MI. In her last years she lived in Goshen IN and Toledo OH where she died peacefully in her sleep at the home of her daughter, Carla Trevino.

Betty lived a full and rewarding life and created deep and meaningful relationships at every stop she called home. A sincerely religious and spiritual woman she radiated beauty and love within and without. She was also a quiet inspiration to all who knew her. A devoted couple, she and Stanley Snyder were married on June 18, 1944 and she felt that Stanley was her greatest blessing on earth. Stanley preceded her in death in 2001.

She is survived by their 4 children, Jake (Evie) Snyder, Carla Trevino, John (Rose) Snyder and Mary Snyder (Tom Wright); grandchildren, Shane (Pam) Snyder, Jason (Jessica) Snyder, Aaron (Amanda) Trevino, Sarah (Fred) Vallejo , Adam Trevino, Ben Snyder, Luke Snyder, Athalia Snyder and Dallas Wright and great grandchildren Isaiah, Haley, Quentin, Lily, Armando, Antonio, Augustine, Carmen, Chance and Mason. Betty is also survived by her siblings Anna Walker, Evelyn (Clayton) Sharick and Carol Hershberger. Along with her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her sisters, Doris, Lucille, Fern, Ruby and brothers, Roger, Allen, Warren and Max.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M. on July 26, 2012 at Bethel Mennonite Church, 9785 S. Bagley Rd. (US-127) Ashley, MI 48806 with Pastor Ed Heilman from Park Church in Toledo, OH, where Betty was a member, officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Twp. Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 4 - 7 P.M. Wednesday, July 25 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 East Cass Street, St. Johns, MI. Memorials may be given to Mennonite Central Committee, 21 S. 12th Street, PO Box 500, Akron, PA 17501-0500. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.
