Betty Jean Tobey 81 of Vernon, Michigan died Tuesday, February 05, 2008 at the Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings Lyons Chapel, Owosso, Michigan on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be on Friday 6-8 P.M. and Saturday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Rev. Curt Napier will officiate and burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Owosso, Michigan.
Betty was born on April 22, 1926 the daughter of Charles & Gladys ( Rust ) Crugher and resided most of her life in Shiawassee County. She married Floyd Tobey May 7, 1943 in Corunna, Michigan. Floyd died April 22, 2004. She was a homemaker and with her husband they owned and operated Tobey Cleaning Service. They also grew and sold produce at their home on M-71 for many years. Better was a member of the Okemos & Durand Nazarene Church, she was a 4H Leader and member for 20 years, she was a commissioner with the Boy Scouts for 10 years, and was a Sunday school teacher and had served on the church board. Betty was also the former president of the resident's council at Ovid Healthcare Center.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Dr. Jean Tobey & Dr. Bruce Maricle of Kamloops B.C. Canada, Carla & Larry Sewell of Vernon, Michigan, 1 son, David & Karla Tobey of Howell, Michigan, 6 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, & husband, 1 sister, Vivian, 3 brothers Jim, Charles Jr. & Robert.
